Welding with infrared (IR) preheating allows the solid friction phase to be eliminated during the vibration welding process. Here the actual welding process already starts during the non-static melt phase. This results in a significant change in the morphology and in some cases a considerable increase in the strength of the weld seam, particularly for fibre-reinforced engineering plastics.
Materials:
All thermoplastics can be vibration welded (e.g. PE, PP, PA, PPA, POM), with the exception of soft plastics that do not have the necessary structural strength and therefore tend to vibrate with the welding head.
