These expansion tanks supply hydraulic steering systems with oil. As standard they also contain an integrated coarse or fine filter and are equipped with an indicator for minimum and maximum filling levels. The constantly growing demands on residual soiling are met by the use of the latest welding technology, the hot gas welding method.

Field of application and function

• The servo oil reservoir supplies the hydraulic steering system with oil.
• Provides an expansion reservoir for pressure or temperature-related changes in volume of the hydraulic oil.
• Filters the oil.
• Fills the oil circuit.
• Vents the hydraulic steering system.

Application conditions and specific demands

• Operating medium is Pentosin (CHF 11S or CHF 202) or ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid).
• The volumetric flow is roughly 10 litres per minute.
• Withstands temperatures between – 40° C and + 135° C.
• The filtration rate is variable, from coarse filters with a mesh width of 150 µm down to fine filters with a filtration rate of ß 20 ≥ 100.
• Servo oil reservoirs meet the highest cleanliness demands in order to protect sealing and control elements and the power steering pumps.
• The following residual soiling particle limit sizes are not exceeded thanks to the introduction of new welding technologies:
• For hard plastic particles (e.g. polyamide) < 200 x 90 x 90 µm, for soft particles (softer than 90 Shore A): < 2000 x 90 x 90 µm.
