GEIGER Automotive replaces rigid metal and flexible elastomer parts with thermoplastic polymer parts optimised in form and function. At the same time, constant research is conducted to further improve the thermal properties of the products.

Field of application and function

• The raw air ducts, the area of the intake system between intake manifold and air filter, fulfils not only the function of flow guidance and acoustics but also of warm air admixing and pollutant separation in the filter. The clean air ducts transport the filtered air further to the throttle valve and/or to the exhaust turbocharger.

Application conditions and specific demands

• The operating medium is air.
• Apart from satisfying the thermodynamics and acoustics, filtered air ducts also have to meet the following demands: Resistance to fuels and oils, vibration insulation functions and leak tightness.

• Polypropylene (PP); polypropylene and thermoplastic elastomers (PP+TPE).
• Polyamide (PA); polyester-based thermoplastic elastomers and polybutylene terephthalate (TEEE/PBT).
